I miss going to the movies.
The hot buttered popcorn, drinks in the balcony, larger than life adventures on the big screen.
Entertainment
I love being entertained.
Actors can make me laugh or cry, get mad at a character or have empathy for one.
They are famous and public figures but also just like you and me.
Just with a special talent to take you to another place on the silver screen.
I don’t care what religion they practice, who they are sleeping with or who they think should or shouldn’t be president.
None of my business and I just don’t care.
I want them to entertain me.
That’s what the ticket price is for.
Period.
Movies are just one form of entertainment. So if they disappeared, that’s ok, for us. The ones getting paid, well, it would matter. Just like our careers. If they disappeared we would be job hunting, no multimillion dollar projects for the majority.
Books are a way to use your imagination to the fullest.
You picture the characters, scenery, smells, colors, all of it, using descriptions on a page.
You are the director of your own movie.
When a book I’ve read gets turned into a movie, sometimes its disappointing.
My version is so much more vivid. This is why you often hear, “the book was better”.
Being able to entertain yourself keeps us from going crazy. You can be alone but not lonely.
You have you and that’s pretty damn good company.
Grab a book, a cup of coffee or glass of wine, wrap up in a blanket on the couch and turn to page one of your next adventure.
The rest of the world will just fade away.
Maybe that’s the cure for 2020.
A good book.
Grab a classic.
Visit a place you’ve never been before, meet exciting people and jump in with both feet.
Love big
